Our Story

Kristian and Angel

Everyone tells you how to raise children. Nobody tells you how to raise your parents.

We learned that the hard way.

For years, we cared for Angel's parents. It did not start with a plan. It started with a phone call. Her father had a terrible accident, and we were eight hours away with no way to reach him. When Angel called the hospital, they would not tell her anything. No power of attorney, no HIPAA authorization, no access. We were her parents' family, and the system treated us like strangers.

That was the first lesson of many. There would be an Alzheimer's diagnosis for Angel's mother. A Stage 4 cancer diagnosis for her father. Nearly a hundred thousand dollars of hidden debt we had to untangle. Scam after scam targeted them when they were most vulnerable. Legal documents we needed and did not have, then needed again, and finally did. Long, hard conversations during brief moments of clarity, trying to honor wishes before the window closed.

We did all of this while working full-time and raising our own children. Some days, we barely held it together. Family and friends stepped in when they could, and we were grateful, but help did not always come right when we needed it. It took us too long to learn something we wish we had known sooner. Rest is not a luxury, and it is not a failure. A caregiver who never sets the weight down does not last, and the people we love need us for the long road, not just the hard week. We thought pushing through was love. We were wrong. Learning to accept a break and to ask for one was one of the hardest and most important things we did. There were nights we disagreed, nights we were exhausted, nights we wished someone, anyone, would just tell us what to do next.

No one did. So we figured it out ourselves, one impossible decision at a time.

Here is what we learned. Families do not fall apart because they lack information. There is information everywhere. They fall apart because no one is walking beside them, helping them see what matters right now and what can wait. The chaos is not a knowledge problem. It is a navigation problem.

We are still living this. We are still in it. And that is exactly why we built Caregivers Primary Resource. Not from a textbook or a boardroom, but from the places we actually lived it, our kitchen table, the doctor's office, the hospital room, and finally, hospice.

We cannot make this journey painless. No one can. But we can make sure you never have to walk it alone or in the dark, the way we did. We can help you find the next right step, and the one after that, and stay with you the whole way.

You do not have to figure this out alone. We are proof that you can do hard things. And we would be honored to walk part of this road with you.
